Dr. Abdullateef Bello obtained his Master’s and Doctor of Philosophy (D.Phil.) degrees in Applied Statistics from the University of Oxford, UK. He was awarded the prestigious international Rhodes Scholarship for exceptional ability, academic excellence, and performance, which enabled him to complete his studies at Oxford and became the 10th Rhodes Scholar from Nigeria. He also attended the Management Development Programme of the Centre for Management Development, London Business School, UK.
As an international development banker, Dr. Bello served in various capacities—including treasury (dealing room), operations, and research at the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), where he worked for over 24 years on various initiatives and themes, including Islamic finance, data analytics, capacity development, strategies, policies, and emerging development issues facing IDB member countries. At IDB, he occupied three senior managerial positions simultaneously: Director of Economic Research and Policy; Director of Data Resources and Statistics; and the IDB Group Chief Librarian. He also attained the highest professional and technical position at the Bank. He began his career as a lecturer at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (Nigeria), and later became a software developer with the Numerical Algorithms Group (NAG), Oxford, UK.
In 2003, he won the highest and most coveted “IDB Award for Excellence in Performance” and authored, among other things, “The role of Islamic finance in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”
As an international scholar, he served as a board member of several international bodies and initiatives, including the boards of the Global Strategy to improve Agricultural and Rural Statistics (FAO) and Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century (PARIS21), as well as a member of IFSB’s Task force on Prudential Islamic Finance Database.
Dr. Bello has travelled extensively to more than 40 countries, representing IDB at various conferences and initiatives.
Ndako has over 18 years’ cognate experience, which covers research, asset management, and investment banking.
Ndako previously worked as a Senior Analyst with Agusto & Co. and was the lead analyst on Corporate and Municipal credit ratings. At Agusto, Ndako provided ratings coverage on over fifteen (15) state governments and their instruments. His role also involved rigorous credit appraisals on notable corporates in Nigeria in key sectors such as real estate, food and beverages, construction and oil & gas.
At Lotus Capital, Ndako heads the Investment and Research Unit where he manages shariah compliant mutual funds, an exchange traded fund, a waqf (endowment) fund and several private client portfolios. He is also part of the team that manages the NGX Lotus Islamic Index. Ndako has led various advisory mandates on the issuance of Sukuk and other non-interest finance instruments, many of which have been landmark transactions in Nigeria. Ndako facilitates trainings for financial institutions, corporates and regulatory agencies on Non-interest finance and financial management.
He is an Alumnus of University of Cambridge Islamic Finance Leadership Programme, the Harvard Kennedy School Executive Programme and the Lagos Business School Senior Management Programme. Ndako has an MSc. in Financial Management from the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen and a BSc. in Economics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He is a Certified Islamic Finance Executive (CIFE). He previously served as an Executive Member of the Fund Managers Association of Nigeria (FMAN) as the chairperson of Ethics, Rules and Regulations. He has also chaired the Technical Committee of the Non-interest Finance Institutions Association of Nigeria (NIFIAN).
Ayeesha Bala Wunti is a distinguished leader at the intersection of green energy, finance, and venture capital, with a career spanning research, investment, and entrepreneurial development. An alumna of the University of Leeds and Imperial College London, she began as a research scientist exploring alternative biofuels before transitioning into finance.
She has since worked with leading firms including VU Venture Partners, Still Earth Capital Finance, and SMOK Ventures, where she built expertise in identifying and scaling promising ventures. As the founding partner of Pennington Promise capital, Ayeesha is redefining Africa’s startup landscape through growth funding and venture building support.

Basheer Oshodi PhD has over 24 years’ work experience in banking, real estate, and academia. He is the Chief Executive of TrustArthur – a fund management company; advisor of a UK Shariah-compliant Real Estate Fund; was Group Head, Non-Interest Banking at Sterling Bank, and set up the non-interest banking window in 2013. He also set forth the Alternative Bank proposition. He was a member of the Non-Interest Finance Working Group, sponsored by EFInA (DFID programme), and was a member of the SEC Alternative Finance Market Master Plan Committee. Basheer was Head, Non-Interest Finance and Head, Research at EFInA. He was Head, Islamic Banking Risk & Compliance at Stanbic IBTC Bank (a member of Standard Bank Group) and set up the non-interest banking window in 2009. He also initiated products compliant with non-interest finance principles for Stanbic IBTC Asset Management Ltd. He has worked as an investment analyst and business analyst in other capacities. He has attended Said Business School – University of Oxford, University of Pennsylvania, University of Colombia, University of Lagos, London Metropolitan University, University of Buckingham, and Da Vinci Institute – South Africa.
Basheer is currently the President of the Non-Interest Financial Institutions Association of Nigeria (NIFIAN).
